Baricci

Italy, Montalcino

Nello Baricci is one of the 26 founding members of the Brunello di Montalcino association which was founded in 1967. He has long been the voice of the small producers who have greatly contributed to giving this prestigious appellation its note of nobility. For this reason, Baricci is the only producer with the authorization to put a Montalcino design on the labels of its wines. Today the estate is run by the two Buffi brothers and Nello’s grandsons. The Colombaio vineyard is located only in Montosli, a territory that is still considered one of the greatest growths of Brunello. Their wines are made according to the purest regional traditions, with precision and great elegance. Montosoli, a unique terroir north of Montalcino, lies between the mountains and the Valdarbia plain. Colombaio di Montosoli, owned by the Baricci family on eight hectares, is located in a privileged area of the Brunello di Montalcino appellation. The soil is a complex mixture of marl, shale, quartz, clay and marine deposits dating back to the Pliocene. The soil, exposure to the sun, serious fermentation without herbicides or chemicals and a traditional winemaking process are the main assets for the elaboration of authentic Brunello wines without artifice.
