Domaine Paul Cherrier

France, Verdigny

Domaine Paul Cherrier is a 13 hectare estate located in the municipality of Verdigny run by Stéphane Cherrier, sixth generation winemaker. Few years ago, he took over the vineyards after stays in Chile, New Zealand and Australia, allowing him to bring his own personal touch and improve the wines’ quality level. The vineyard is ten hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and three of Pinot Noir. The soil is limestone and clay on the Verdigny plateau and white soil on the hillsides. The work on the vines is one of the estate’s priorities. Working the soil and de-budding afford real qualitative strengths. In addition, the grassing of certain vineyard parcels contributes to optimum grape ripeness. At the winery. the vinification process is done in a traditional manner, with a minimum of intervention and in stainless steel tanks to preserve the optimal purity of the fruit.
