Francesco Boschis
Italy, DoglianiThe history of the Francesco Boschis estate began in 1919 when Telesforo Boschis left the vineyards of Barolo to settle in the hills of the commune of Pianezzo in the Langhe. It was in this village that their son Francesco was born, who would later set up the estate. Although the family has been growing grapes since their arrival in the area, it wasn’t until 1968 that Francesco and his son Mario decided to vinify part of their harvest. The result was convincing and slowly they perfected their techniques and expanded the estate by acquiring other plots including Vigna dei Prey in 1983, Sorì San Martino in 1986 and finally Vigna del Ciliegio in 2001. Today, the wines are vinified separately to demonstrate the specific characteristics of each vineyard. The estate works not only the vineyard with respect, but also the entire property including the fields and forests that surround the plots of the estate. The vineyard of Francesco Boschis is 80% Dolcetto, complemented by Barbera, Freisa, Grignolino and Sauvignon blanc. The Boschis family strongly believes in sustainable ecological agriculture and in a rigorous management of the vineyard and its production. The estate adheres to the strict rules of the European Union’s Eco-compatible Agriculture program.
