Château Monestier La Tour

France, Monestier

Nestled in a bucolic landscape, the estate comprises three blocks of vines in the communes of Monestier and Saussignac in the Bergerac region. Château Monestier La Tour owes its name to the ancient monastery on which it was built. Now famous for its wines, Château Monestier was originally a fortified house dating back to the Middle Ages. Following a fire that seriously damaged the Château in 1994, the estate survived thanks to the investments of Philippe de Haseth-Moller, who acquired it in 1998. He undertook the renovation of the buildings and the vineyard. In 2012, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele’s family took over ownership of the estate and redeveloped the landscape around the Château. Mixed farming (vines, cultivated land, fruit trees…) is favored in order to preserve and enrich the surrounding countryside, while creating a place in harmony with nature and the history of the area. The vineyard comprises almost 30 hectares of vines and produces organic and biodynamic wines under the guidance of oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt. The estate comprises 17 hectares of red grape varieties and 12.5 hectares of white grape varieties. The vineyards are planted on a variety of soils (limestone, sand, silt) and enjoy an oceanic climate that moderates the atmosphere and maintains a good level of humidity throughout the year. The plots are gently sloping and drain naturally. Château Monestier La Tour is committed to producing wines that respect nature, are rooted in their terroir and offer a subtle balance between depth, freshness and elegant fruit. It embodies a wind of renewal and excellence, offering a palette of wines that are a must-discover. Don’t miss your chance to taste this unforgettable wine experience!
