Vinyes del Terrer

Spain, Vila-seca

Vinyes del Terrer tells the story of a family‑run vineyard tucked along the Catalan coast, less than two kilometres from the Mediterranean. It is a discreet, almost hidden place where the vines sink their roots into an exceptional soil: lumaquela, a limestone rock studded with marine fossils. This rare terroir, reminiscent in texture of Chablis, gives birth to wines of luminous precision, carried by saline freshness and natural elegance. The land has belonged to the same family for more than a century, once home to vines, olive trees, hazelnut trees and almond trees. In 1989, Joan Maria Morell Torrell replanted the first selected clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. In 2003, his son Eduard brought the Vinyes del Terrer project to life with a simple ambition: reveal this singular terroir and let it speak. Some places seem to make the vine breathe differently. In Vila‑seca, near Tarragona, the sea is never far. Centuries‑old olive and carob trees watch over the rows of vines, the Catalan sun warms the landscape, and the marine breezes bring their unmistakable energy. On just seven hectares, every gesture and every decision carries weight. Since 2019, the estate has been certified organic. The approach is artisanal, precise and free of artifice. Macabeo, Garnacha Blanca, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon are harvested by hand to craft honest, vibrant wines where the elegance of the fruit meets a mineral backbone deeply rooted in fossil‑rich stone. The temperate Mediterranean climate, 2,600 hours of annual sunshine and the proximity of the sea shape wines that are vibrant, balanced and intensely expressive. At Vinyes del Terrer, everything converges toward a single goal: letting this corner of the Mediterranean speak. Wines that are precise and radiant, driven by natural minerality and invigorating tension, shaped by an unmistakably artisanal style. Wines that tell the story of the sea, the light, the stone — and the soul of a truly unique place.
