Domaine Bru-Baché
France, MoneinClaude Loustalot continues the tradition by taking over the Bru-Baché estate from his uncle in 1994 and brings luster to the Jurançon appellation with its remarkable wines. On a terraced vineyard, at the foot of the Pyrenees, in Monein, the estate has 11 hectares of vines worked with respect for the terroir and the environment. On these magnificent clay-limestone soils, Claude has been practicing organic and biodynamic agriculture since 2006 to preserve the authenticity of his wines. Using local grape varieties of gros manseng and petit manseng, aged between 15 and 70 years old, he creates six spectacular vintages ranging from dry to sweet. Claude favours spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts and ageing on lees in stainless steel vats or in foudres for about 6 months for the dry whites. The winegrower produces a Jurançon that expresses its origin, that draws on its roots to be as true as possible. The book “The Oxford Companion to Wine” thus recognizes the estate as one of the references of the appellation.
