Vincent Bouzereau
France, MeursaultThe estate was created in 1990, and exploits 11 hectares of vines (6 in Chardonnay, 4 in Pinot Noir and 1 in Aligoté). The majority of the plots are in the commune of Meursault, but the estate also works vines in Puligny, Monthélie, Auxey-Duresses, Volnay, Pommard, Beaune and on the mountain of Corton. What distinguishes the estate is the interest in the vines, since Pierre, Vincent’s father, has always reproduced his vine plants by mass selection and the current vines come from pre-phylloxera selection. They identify the vines which seem to them to be qualitative, healthy, and keep the pruning wood to reproduce them on selected rootstocks. This practice allows a better biodiversity compared to clonal selection. Their cultivation techniques are similar to those of winemakers who claim to produce terroir wines, working the soil, therefore mechanical weeding to promote microbial life.
