Controcorrente

Italy

Controcorrente is Italian for “against the mainstream”. A good description of the personality of Enrico Ciroi, creator of Controcorrente vermouth. Winegrower, restaurateur and owner of a delicatessen, Enrico is a friendly bon vivant and a devotee of natural wines. After many life experiences, he returned to his hometown of Udine. A lover of vermouth, he finds that the ones he tastes reflect very little of the characteristics of the wine that is his staple product. Looking for a natural wine producer, he met Daniele Piccinin, a natural winemaker in the Veneto region. Daniel practises organic farming on five hectares of vines northeast of Verona. The two originals understand each other and become fast friends. Enrico confides in Daniele his dream of creating a vermouth based on a natural wine capable of conveying the aromas of Italy and the Mediterranean. Daniele supplies Enrico with the wines he needs, and he adds blends of Italian herbs and wild flowers. Complementary citrus fruits are part of the recipe to compose his symphony of typically Mediterranean flavors. Their complicity gives birth to three avant-garde vermouths that are distinctive and less sweet than conventional vermouths. Everything you need to satisfy your taste for natural difference!
