Loire
FranceThe Loire Valley, with its many castles and its proximity to Paris, is a very active wine region. In total, over 55,000 hectares of vines are grown in this valley that stretches from the Massif Central (Auvergne) to southern Brittany, where the Loire river empties into the Atlantic Ocean. The long and wide valley can be divided into seven wine zones due to the very different climates and soil compositions. The varieties also vary depending on the sub-region. The main grape varieties that are grown are Muscadet, Gros Plant, Chenin, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Despite this diversity, the wines produced in this vast region have freshness and finesse in common when well crafted. The Loire Valley offers wines that are perfect for all occasions: sparkling, light and fruity reds, rich red wines that can be aged, dry, mineral whites or sweet and mellow dessert wines. In short, each wine drinker can find a treat to enjoy.
