In the early 1990s, Denis Jamain elevated Domaine de Reuilly to the ranks of the Centre-Loire’s leading producers, revealing to the world the mineral power of the Kimmeridgian terroirs—the very same fossilized soils that make Chablis so great. Thanks to him, Reuilly has definitively shed the label of “Sancerre for the poor” to become an appellation in its own right, proud of its identity and its crystalline style. In 2020, a new chapter began when Joseph and Marie de Maistre took over the estate, ready to continue this pursuit of excellence. The 24 hectares of Domaine de Reuilly have been certified organic since 2011 and biodynamic since 2015. Winemaking is gentle, natural, and precise: indigenous yeasts, minimal filtration, and controlled sulfites. Each cuvée expresses the Kimmeridgian’s signature minerality with remarkable purity, giving rise to luminous, taut wines offering value for money that confidently rivals the greatest names of the Centre-Loire. In Menetou-Salon, Joseph and Marie also cultivate the Prieuré de Saint Céols, a 12-hectare estate situated on limestone soils rich in marine fossils. This homogeneous terroir was shaped by an ancient sea and offers an ideal playground for Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Converted to organic farming and managed with natural grass cover, the vines produce elegant, vibrant, and deeply distinctive wines, dominated by freshness and minerality. Guided by their passion, their respect for life, and the legacy of Denis Jamain and Pierre Jacolin, Joseph and Marie de Maistre are breathing new life into the Reuilly and Menetou-Salon appellations. Their wines are precise, expressive, and deeply rooted in their terroirs. They captivate with their fruity brilliance, finesse, and authenticity.
